GeneralitŠ°

The Juniperus communis is a species represented by shrubs with a majestic bearing or by small and medium-sized trees that grow mainly in height.

In any case, juniper, a common name for this genus, is a rustic plant, which reaches a height that varies between 2 and 4 meters and a diameter that can even reach about 4 meters.

The flowers of this type of plants are very small, almost imperceptible; the foliage consists of small, needle-like leaves, scented and dark green in color. The fruits are small round / oval berries of green color during the first years, blue in color starting from the third.

Climate

As far as the best exposure is concerned, being a typical plant of the woods and moors of the northern hemisphere (it often grows luxuriant even in the coniferous woods), the juniper also resists cold temperatures, even those that reach far below 0 ° C, down to -13 ° C.

The best position for its development, however, must be rather sunny or partially shaded. It is a rustic and resistant plant that is not particularly affected by the wind, therefore it can be grown without problems even in rather windy areas.
