Combat seasonal ailments with aromatic herbs grown on the balcony

Cooling ailments are not a prerogative of winter: although in that season they are more frequent, we can find ourselves with a sore throat, a sinusitis or a severe cold also in other seasons. They are in fact favored by the frequentation of crowded environments, by the lowering of the immune defenses (due to stress) or strong changes in temperature (air conditioning).

Usually these are minor diseases, which heal spontaneously within a few days, especially if we allow ourselves some rest. On these occasions we can promote the healing process thanks to aromatic herbs and medicinal plants. Some have antiseptic and expectorant properties, others come towards us relieving fatigue and tension. Of course, if the symptoms persist, it is good to seek medical attention.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis can be really annoying: it brings a feeling of numbness and constipation. In the most acute phases it is not uncommon to perceive a feeling of swelling in the eyelids and a severe headache. Precious allies can be the suffumigi based on aromatic herbs with balsamic and analgesic effect. For example, we can mix bay, mint and eucalyptus in a bowl, pouring boiling water over it.

We breathe the vapors emitted for at least ten minutes, covering the head with a towel. In addition to decongesting the airways, it will help us thin the mucus, making it escape more easily. The ideal is to carry out the treatment in the evening, before going to sleep.
